All New HR - How Outsourcing Works
(644K)Generic outsourcing essentially requires turning over one or more of a company’s business processes to an outside service provider or vendor. The procedures are fairly straightforward for business-to-business outsourcing such as IT, finance, or accounting. However, outsourcing human resources is not quite that simple. This is because the provider is dealing with individuals on a frequent – sometimes daily – basis; thus making HR outsourcing more of a business-to-consumer process that has personal implications. Although the concept of HR outsourcing has been around in the business world for many years, it was still viewed as somewhat of a phenomenon before the economic downturn. Since then, HR outsourcing has emerged in the global business market as an acceptable and practical solution for a rapidly growing number of companies. -

(1.7M)The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will have a profound impact on employers and our health insurance system. While the employer community hoped that reform would place a priority on controlling cost trend and improving quality of care, the final legislation was skewed toward expansion of government-funded insurance coverage. The law did not create a comprehensive or certain path toward a more rational health care system; however, the reform puts the US on a path that increases consumer expectations of having comprehensive and affordable insurance coverage. Unless there are significant changes in health care cost, this expectation is unrealistic. The federal subsidies that are intended to make insurance coverage more affordable simply mask the cost problem rather than correct it.
